There have been many books written on habits and how we get hooked to one including that famous book Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. Nir Eyal's book Hooked explores this topic from the angle of how to build habit forming products. Nir's Hook model is based on a four steps including trigger, action, variable reward and investment. Nir explores in depth each of these areas and provides very relevant examples for each. There is lot of focus on triggers since as we all know it is the one that induces the habit in the first place. Nir explains the Fogg Behavior Model on how habit forming behaviors are formed. Finally you will learn about the manipulation matrix and why it's important for the person coming up with a new product to not only improve the end user's life but also be using it themselves. This one is an easy read and a must for those who are building new products.
