Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark is a thought provoking book on the possibilities of life if and when super-intelligent AI becomes a reality. The books takes you through the basics of life like intelligence and consciousness. The book goes through every imaginable scenario of the next 10000 years from Humans in total control of AI to AI in total control of humans. Will super-intelligent AI have the same goals as we humans? What are the possibilities? Can AI attain consciousness? Can AI help flourish life beyond Earth? There is a whole lot to think about once you read this book. In this age of AI, this one is a must read!

Book Review: Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

I was very pleasantly surprised to read this gripping real life tale about a young guy named Chris McCandless who rebelled against his parents, disappeared into thin air after graduation and set out to live an unknown life in the wild criss-crossing the American west and finally ending up in Alaska only to meet an untimely death. Jon traces Chris's young life, with his sometimes troubled relationship with his parents, his many soul searching journeys to find his inner self, his quest to find how much he could stretch himself and (on many occasions) his eschewing of most modern trappings of life including money. Unfortunately Chris's biggest asset, his youth, proves to be deadly in the end due to his in-experience and under estimation of the Alaskan wild.
